Our Mission

Life House Foundation seeks to advance the kingdom of Jesus Christ, locally in Charlottesville and throughout central Virginia, by equipping and encouraging pastors and pastors’ wives.

Our Story & Vision

Life House Foundation was borne out of a heart for pastors and their wives and a desire to lift them up.

While serving the Christian community in the Charlottesville area alongside her pastor husband during the 1990’s, Wendy Ellis began to recognize a need for a better networking system for pastors and their wives. These front-line workers in spreading the gospel often lack adequate support, equipping, and most of all encouragement.

Wendy prayed continually over this burden and the vision began. In January of 2023, she offered up a bold prayer to God, giving Him her “everything” in exchange for His “anything”, no matter what that would be.

On April 11, 2024, the vision became clear as she was ministering to pastors and their wives on the other side of the world in Vietnam. She knew God was saying, “This is the time. Take the vision home to central Virginia and see what I am about to do!” God spoke “Life House” over Wendy’s heart and the ministry took root.

To affirm God’s message, Wendy took a step of faith and shared the vision for Life House with three godly men who serve in ministry and with other nonprofit organizations. With their shared enthusiasm, support, and after much prayer, Life House Foundation was born.

Pastors and their wives are being equipped to serve more effectively, encouraged to continue to share the gospel message with the lost and, above all, Jesus Christ is being lifted up and glorified.

Our Values

Hebrews 10:24-25 "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the day approaching."

If we lead with Jesus, we're all on the same team. Our core values are Love, Interconnectedness, Fellowship, and Encouragement (LIFE).

Love

I Corinthians 1:10 "I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought."

John 15:12 "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

Interconnectedness

Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor:  If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.  But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.  Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.  But how can one keep warm alone?  Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves.  A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Fellowship

Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three gather in My name, there am I with them."

Galatians 6:2 "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Encouragement

Romans 1:11-12 "I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong - that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith."

I Thessalonians 5:14 "And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone."
